Kachumber or Cachumber is a fresh salad of onions, tomatoes, and cucumber that is part of Indian Cuisine. Serve alongside a delicious curry or dal with fryums, papad, and rotis or rice!


Kachumber is a fresh and cooling Indian salad made of chopped onions, tomatoes, and cucumber. It is very easy to make and takes almost no time at all. Most Indian homes have a side of cachumber salad with every meal, be it lunch or dinner. It is quite similar to the Mediterranean salad or the Kachumbari salad made in several African countries.

This salad recipe does not require a heavy dressing, just add a bit of salt, lime or lemon juice, chili powder, and sprinkle with fresh coriander. Our kachumber salad recipe is also gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan!

What Ingredients Do You Need To Make Kachumber Salad?

All you need for kachumber salad is onions, tomatoes, and cucumber. You can also add salt, lime juice, chili powder, and coriander leaves for dressing. Optionally you can also add green chilies or even pomegranates, radish, or corn to make it more interesting.

How To Make Kachumber?

This is a really simple salad to make. All you have to do is chop some onions, tomatoes, and cucumber and mix it all together in a bowl. Season with lime or lemon juice, salt, chili powder, and fresh coriander.

Take 2 onions, 2 tomatoes, 1 cucumber on a chopping baord.

Cut cucumber, tomatoes and onions.
Wash and get ready to chop
Dice onion, tomatoes and cucumber in pieces.
Dice into cubes
Serve cachumber with lime, salt and chilli powder.

Add little masala to the cachumber and serve with lime slice, salt and chilli powder.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 Onions
  • 1 Cucumber
  • .125 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Lime juice or Lemon juice
  • .25 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 5 Coriander Fresh sprigs

Instructions
 

  • Wash the tomatoes and cucumber and clean the onion.
  • Chop the onions, tomatoes and cucumber into small cubes.
  • Mix in a bowl and dress with salt, lime juice, chilli powder and fresh coriander to taste.
