A refreshing fruit salad is the easiest dessert to make and serve for any lunch or dinner. It’s also perfect for those random days when you want a dessert but want to pretend you’re eating right because of all the fruits in it.

Ingredients for the Fruit Salad

Your basic ingredients are milk, sugar, and custard powder. The fruits added can vary. We add bananas, chikoos, apples, orange, papayas, and black grapes (the same ones we ake wine with). Sometimes we add more or less of each one. Sometimes we skip some altogether. It’s really up to personal choice.

Making the Fruit Salad

Fruit salad is easy to make in minutes.

Step I – Cut the Fruit

Slice the bananas into thin slices (thick if you prefer) and the grapes into halves or just leave them whole. Like I said, personal preference. Dice the apple, chickoo, and papaya into small pieces. And peel the orange and cut each slice into 2 or 3 bits.

Slice the banana fine.
Cut grapes and apples.

Step II – Make the Custard

Add the milk to a large pot. Mix in the sugar and custard powder and stir well so it’s all mixed properly and the lunps have disappeared. Put it on the stove on a medium flame and allow to come to a boil while stirring continuously (approx 10 mins.)

Once the custard has thickened, take it off the stove. Add all the fruit to the custard, and mix. It’s now ready to serve warm. If you want it cold, refrigerate for an hour or two. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
